The “Milomo VC10” is an often overlooked fish that has wonderful color, intricate body patterns, and great personality.  The juveniles display a black on tan “camo” like pattern at an early age, making it a nice fish to watch develop.  Its not just a boring little silver or gray fish as a youngster.

The milomo is rather hospitable with other conspecifics and defends territory mostly when spawning; otherwise, it just gets along.  Interestingly, in the wild females avoid males unless they are wanting to spawn with them.  No preparation, as in building a bower, is necessary; once they couple up they spawn where they are.

The milomo is a micro-predator and feeds on small crustaceons among the biocover.  Your food should be rich in an animal protein such as krill or shrimp.

The common name “VC-10” spawns from the original collecter Peter Davies, whom flew between London and Malawi on the Vicker VC-10.  This aircraft was designed to take off from short runway strips and acheived the fastest London to New York crossing.  It still holds the record for a non-supersonic airplane.  Well named, since these fish are are supersonic!  Good luck catching them!!!
