Rainforest Farms International is a company headquartered in Bloomington, IN.  RFI was founded in 1985 by Tom Meador, who started the business by breeding just a few discus fish.  In the time since RFI has started, the company has grown to carrying over 480 various species of freshwater tropical fish and sells tropical fish to customer located through out the United States, Canada and The Carribean.   

Since we started our hatchery over 26 year's ago, we have developed very specific breeding strategies.    For Discus Fish, have been have developed various color morphs, which have proven to be very robust, beautiful and breed true. Solid yellow discus - Lemon peel Alenquer, Snakeskins, Tefe X Red Dragon,MarlboroX, Leopard, Solid Reds, Red royals, Opal turquoise to name a few of my Genetic creations.  We are consistently developing new breeding environments to bring our customers more variety.

However, discus fish aren't the only focus of our hatchery, we also breed different species of Rainbow fish, Tetras, Catfish, Angelfish and numerous other species of freshwater tropical fish.  Pictured below is our owner Tom Meador and some of our staff preparing shipments for customers.

We have a Custom Plumbing System that involves over 200 tanks.  We have tanks specifically used for breeding our strains, acclimating new fish that we import and as storage tanks for our stock available for sale.  To keep our water clean and healthy for our aquarium fish, we have a large freshwater storage tank that cycles freshwater throughout our system and keeps our water at an ideal temperature and pH.  Pictured below are just some of our tanks and part of our freshwater storage system.
